1991年保加利亚国会通过会计师法，独立财务审计作为1931-1948年间曾经存在的一个行业以“注册会计师”的名称恢复重建。保加利亚注册会计师协会
(ICPA
)是保加利亚国内唯一的全国性注册会计师组织，是一个独立、自律的法人，总部位于索菲亚。
是国际会计师联合会
（IFAC）、国际法语注册会计师联合会（International Federation of Francophone Certified Public Accountants，FIDEF）、欧洲注册会计师联合会（Federation of European Certified Public Accountants，FEE）和地中海注册会计师联合会（Federation of Certified Public Accountants from the Mediterranean States，FCM）成员。
