巴巴多斯共和国，是加勒比海地区著名的旅游胜地。1966年11月30日
独立，是英联邦成员，其名字来自于葡萄牙
语，指遍地都是的野生的无花果树。国土面积431平方公里，人口28万。
1966年，一些会计界的知名人士退休回到巴巴多斯，其中包括曾经担任过加拿大特许会计师协会
主席的Howard Ross先生。他们开始为巴巴多斯会计界的未来出谋划策。设立专业组织的建议也得到了时任总理Hon. Errol Barrow的支持。
同年，所有知名的特许会计师都被邀请到温莎饭店，大家选举E Walmsley为协会主席。
1974年11月1日
，巴巴多斯特许会计师协会
正式成立。
协会会员共有四类：普通会员、特别会员、终身会员和荣誉会员。
1995年，ICAB规定会员每年继续学习至少35小时。
会员资格的取得有两种途径：
（1）满足学员规章制度中规定的教育、实务经验和考试三方面的要求；
（2）为以下协会中一个或多个协会会员：

英格兰及威尔士特许会计师协会
（The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales）
英格兰特许会计师协会（The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland）
爱尔兰特许会计师协会

英国皇家特许管理会计师协会（The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in England）
加拿大特许会计师协会
（The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants）
加拿大注册会计师协会（The Certified General Accountants Association of Canada）
加拿大管理会计师协会
（The Society of Management Accountants of Canada）
美国注册会计师协会
（The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of the United Statesof America）
